During the 63rd plenary session, the deputies of the Legislative Assembly approved important budget reforms, approved by the Treasury Commission, aimed at strengthening key areas of national development.
With 56 votes, the parliamentarians modified the Budget Law 2025 to allocate up to US$53.9 million to eight state institutions. This reinforcement will make it possible to address priority commitments in health, tourism, security, economy, and other strategic areas.

The Ministry of Finance identified non-executed resources from the current budget to finance this reorientation without affecting the fiscal balance. The aim is to ensure efficiency and transparency in the allocation of public funds.
The Ministries of Justice and Public Safety and Foreign Affairs will receive US$4 million each. Tourism will receive US$3 million, Health US$8 million, and Economy US$16 million to meet their respective institutional goals.

CEL and MOPT will receive US$2.2 million each, while the Presidency will receive an additional US$16.7 million. This redistribution will allow improving services and strengthening the execution of priority projects.
Also approved was US$2.3 million for the Autoridad Nacional de Residuos Sólidos (ANDRES (ANDRES) to start operations. The purpose of this is to guarantee integrated waste management and recycling throughout the country.

In addition, with 57 votes, the Executive was authorized to contract a loan of up to US$120 million with the IBRD to intervene in areas of the AMSS such as Apopa, Tonacatepeque and Ciudad Delgado.
Finally, another loan of US$150 million was ratified between CEL and IBRD to develop the “Geothermal Energy Project for Sustainable and Inclusive Development”,which will strengthen the national energy sector.
