
With a strategic investment of US$26,467,364.59, the Municipality of San Salvador Centro will carry out a broad portfolio of community works projects during 2026 aimed at improving urban infrastructure, basic services, and public spaces in the municipality’s five districts. These funds are part of the annual municipal budget of $260,352,838.98 and will be allocated to high-impact social projects. This information was provided by the Municipality of San Salvador Centro.
Under the leadership of mayor Mario Durán, the municipality has prioritized investment focused on the direct needs of the population, with an emphasis on road maintenance, public space restoration, community infrastructure, street lighting, sports, and health, with the goal of improving the quality of life in the communities.
Projects by district
In the San Salvador District, the funds will be concentrated on the Obra por Día, program, the Plan Bacheo y Recarpeteo,, as well as community works and consulting services for soil, hydraulic, and structural studies, which will allow for the planning of more sustainable and safer projects.

For the Mejicanos District, the investment will be directed toward road rehabilitation projects, improvements to public spaces such as sports fields, parks, and sidewalks, as well as community infrastructure and protective works, including walls, embankments, and drainage ditches, designed to mitigate risks.
In the Ciudad Delgado District, the resources will allow for the maintenance of the road network, the improvement and installation of streetlights, the restoration of recreational spaces, and the execution of works directly aimed at communities, strengthening community life and citizen security.
The Cuscatancingo District will benefit from projects to improve and upgrade the lighting system, develop sports infrastructure, construct and improve commercial plazas, and carry out road maintenance, all focused on boosting local economic activity and the use of public space.

Meanwhile, in the Ayutuxtepeque District, the investment will be allocated to road and public lighting maintenance, the implementation of health programs, and the repair and renovation of community centers, key spaces for community organization and services.
According to the San Salvador Centro Municipal Government, this investment is part of a territorial planning strategy that seeks to balance development among districts, prioritizing projects that generate direct and visible benefits for the population. The strategy aims to strengthen local infrastructure, improve municipal services, and create safer, more functional, and better-organized urban environments.
With over US$26.4 million allocated exclusively to community projects, the municipality reaffirms its focus on socially impactful governance, with projects that address long-standing needs and contribute to the comprehensive development of San Salvador Centro.
