The General Directorate of Governmental Accounting of the Ministry of Finance held the closing of the Specialization Course in Governmental Accounting, aimed at personnel from the financial areas of municipalities.
During the training, the participants received basic knowledge necessary to understand the legal and technical accounting logic that governs the Governmental Accounting Subsystem, which all municipalities in the country must use to record their financial operations in compliance with the provisions of the Municipal Code.
The General Directorate of Governmental Accounting, as the governing body of public accounting, has been committed for years to providing municipalities with the necessary technological tools, as well as to providing municipal personnel with training and knowledge in financial matters to strengthen their capacities, allowing them to record their financial operations in a timely and correct manner, leading them to produce quality financial information for users.
During the closing event, the Deputy Director General of Governmental Accounting, Humberto Barrera, urged the participants to put into practice the knowledge acquired in each of their municipalities, and to make efforts so that in those cases in which the accounting of the former municipalities and districts is behind, they can update it in compliance with Article 1 of the Special Law of Transition for Municipal Restructuring.
Francisco Cornejo, head of Budget of the Municipal Mayor’s Office of San Vicente Sur, expressed his satisfaction at having acquired new knowledge in relation to governmental accounting, developing new competencies for the functions he performs on a daily basis.
More than 20 officials passed the course, coming from municipalities such as: Cabañas Oeste, La Paz Oeste, Santa Ana Oeste, San Vicente Sur, San Vicente Sur, San Salvador Oeste, San Salvador Este, San Salvador Centro, Santa Ana Centro, Chalatenango Centro and San Salvador Sur.
