With the goal of preventing accidents during the Christmas and New Year’s celebrations, various institutions have intensified inspections of fireworks stores, retail outlets, kiosks, and authorized points of sale for pyrotechnic products nationwide.
As part of these efforts, teams from the Sistema Nacional de Protección Civil, in coordination with the Fire Department, conducted inspections at establishments dedicated to the sale of fireworks, including the Luces el Sol store, located in Santa Tecla, La Libertad Sur.

The Fire Department director, Baltazar Solano, explained that the inspections aim to reduce risks associated with the handling, storage, and sale of these products, to prevent fires, explosions, and other incidents that endanger lives.
Solano explained that there are currently 150 inspectors deployed throughout the country, who carry out preventative work and certify locations authorized by the municipalities for the sale of fireworks. To date, 47 kiosks, 39 collective sales outlets, 82 sales rooms, and 12 fireworks factories have been inspected.

During the inspections, compliance with current regulations, the safe and orderly storage of pyrotechnic products, and the availability of adequate fire extinguishers and other mandatory safety measures are verified.
The director of Civil Protection, Luis Alonso Amaya, pointed out that these actions encompass not only surveillance but also compliance with regulations related to the manufacture, sale, and marketing of pyrotechnic products.

Authorities indicated that inspections will continue throughout the holiday season to ensure safe conditions for the public and reduce the risk of accidents related to the use of fireworks.
