The Dirección de Obras Municipales (DOM) has obtained three international certifications, reaffirming the commitment of President Nayib Bukele’s government to the well-being of the salvadoran people.
According to Arnulfo Pino, representative of the de la Asociación Española de Normalización y Certificación (AENOR), the DOM completed a rigorous evaluation process to receive ISO 45001:2018 certification. This certification endorses the Occupational Health and Safety Management System implemented by the department.
The audits consisted of assessing the preparation, planning, implementation, and degree of compliance with the requirements.
With this standard, the DOM becomes the first institution in El Salvador in the construction sector to receive this international certification.
ISO 45001 certification is an important recognition for institutions, as it demonstrates their commitment to the health and safety of their workers.
It helps identify hazards, assess risks, and establish controls to prevent accidents and occupational illnesses, while complying with applicable laws and regulations on occupational health and safety.
AENOR has also awarded DOM certification for the ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System, whose main feature is a “zero tolerance” policy on bribery through prevention, detection, and response to bribery.
It has also been awarded the I509001:2015 Quality Management System certification, whose main objective is to ensure that the requirements of the works can be met and the expected results obtained to meet customer expectations and satisfaction through continuous improvement of processes. Each year, the maintenance of the integrated management system and its strict compliance with certified standards is verified.
