The Government of El Salvador continues to implement innovative solutions to strengthen the right to water of salvadoran families. As part of the National Water Plan, a hybrid water collection, storage, and treatment system has been installed in a house in the Cimas de San Bartolo neighborhood, in the district of Ilopango, San Salvador East.

The installation was verified by the president of the Administración Nacional de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (ANDA), Jorge Castaneda, and the president of the Autoridad Salvadoreña del Agua (ASA), Ethel Cabrera, who highlighted the immediate benefits of this technological solution and its impact in areas that still have a programmed service.
“The hybrid system harnesses the blessing of rainwater, treating it with a robust filter train that includes sediment filters, a UV lamp and a reverse osmosis system. It also allows for the storage of water from the potable network, which guarantees 24/7 continuity of service with adequate pressure and quality water for human consumption”, said Jorge Castaneda.

The installed storage tank has a capacity of one cubic meter of water and its design allows for the integration of multiple water sources. In addition, its control panel optimizes pressure management and ensures operational efficiency. This type of solution represents a significant improvement in communities that previously only had access to water on scheduled days.

The head of ASA emphasized that “we are committed to finding solutions that guarantee our Salvadoran people quality water.
This hybrid system takes advantage of rainwater and allows storing water from the network, providing continuity in the service 24/7 to the benefited families”.
These actions are part of a broader strategy promoted by the government to ensure equitable, sustainable, and safe access to drinking water throughout the country. The coordination between ANDA and ASA makes it possible to advance concrete solutions that benefit salvadorans, especially in areas where service has historically been limited.
