The government has allocated an investment of more than US$35,000 to renew portable dental equipment from the Fondo Solidario para la Salud (FOSALUD). This allocation of resources seeks to modernize and strengthen oral health services, ensuring quality care for children, adolescents, women, and older adults during mobile medical clinics nationwide.
Portable technology for less invasive care
The modernization includes state-of-the-art equipment for Fosalud’s mobile units, which, according to Oral Health Program Coordinator Yesenia Arévalo, are equipped with technology that allows for less invasive care for patients.

The new portable equipment includes a chair, lamp, spittoon, and ultrasound. This technological equipment will allow Fosalud to offer more efficient treatments in the communities, such as fillings, prophylaxis, sealants, extractions, and fluoride application. Additionally, training is being provided to dentists and dental assistants to ensure proper use of equipment and top-level care.

The director of Fosalud, Carlos Núñez, explained that the implementation of these mobile units allows quality medical and dental care to be delivered to the most remote cantons.

With more than 100 dental clinics conducted so far this year, the updated equipment ensures that thousands of Salvadorans continue to receive better care. The organization’s goal is to strengthen dental services during these mobile clinics, ensuring that the vulnerable population receives the care they deserve in the most remote areas of the country.
