The government, through the Dirección General de Protección Civil and the Cuerpo de Bomberos, has provided a detailed update on the emergencies attended to during the August holidays, demonstrating the effectiveness of its preventive and response plans.

Authorities have highlighted a decrease in certain types of emergencies and urged drivers to exercise caution. Cuerpo de Bomberos Director Baltazar Solano, along with Protection Civil Director Luis Alonso Amaya, led inspections of restaurants on Calle Antigua and Huizúcar to ensure they comply with safety regulations and have contingency plans to prevent fires.

Solano explained that these inspections are part of the institution’s daily actions to ensure the public is aware of the procedures and can act promptly in the event of any risk. Luis Alonso Amaya noted with satisfaction that, at this point during the holiday season, no deaths from drowning have been recorded.
Regarding water rescues, the figures show a total of 31, with 12 simple rescues and 19 deep rescues, demonstrating an increase in the authorities’ response to water emergencies.

Regarding road accidents, Amaya reported 255 accidents, a slightly higher number than last year, of which 63 were caused by motorcyclists. Therefore, the director strongly urged motorcycle drivers to act responsibly, to reduce accidents and ensure the safety of everyone on the roads.
For the main religious event of this holiday, authorities have deployed a special operation, including a command post. This plan involves several security and pre-hospital institutions, demonstrating inter-institutional coordination to ensure the well-being of the parishioners who will gather during the event.
