As part of the Plan Vacación, the Government of El Salvador developed an important component focused on emergency prevention and comprehensive care during religious activities, highlighting its commitment to citizen well-being during the August Festivities. One of the main events was the procession prior to the ceremony of the Transfiguration of Jesus at the Metropolitan Cathedral, which brought together thousands of parishioners in the Historic Center of San Salvador.

As part of this effort, Protección Civil set up a command post in coordination with security, pre-hospital health, and prevention institutions. This joint deployment allowed for a timely response to any eventuality and guaranteed a peaceful atmosphere for attendees, who walked from the Basilica del Sagrado Corazón through the revitalized streets of the capital’s downtown.

The institutional presence was key to building confidence among participants, who were able to enjoy the religious event safely, thanks to the urban planning implemented by the government. Logistics, planning, and responsiveness were evident throughout the activity, always prioritizing the protection of the population.
This religious event, steeped in symbolism and tradition, also reflected the positive changes in salvadoran society. The massive attendance at the procession was possible thanks to the climate of security that has been established, allowing families to gather and freely live their faith in public spaces. In addition to preserving religious tradition, the government has restored confidence in the use of emblematic spaces and in citizen participation. The current environment allows customs to remain alive, strengthening national identity through celebrations that unite and transform the country.
