According to the Executive Director of the Fondo de Conservación Vial (Fovial), Alexander Beltrán, El Salvador will strengthen its road network with an investment of approximately US$124.92 million for maintenance and improvements. This represents an increase of more than 60% over previous years, with the objective of guaranteeing roads in optimal conditions and improving the mobility of the population.

Alexander Beltrán also explained that these resources will make it possible to address the accumulated deterioration of the road infrastructure. “Everything has a useful life, that is why we are reinforcing maintenance to avoid greater damages”, he said.
Currently, Fovial is responsible for more than 7,269 kilometers of roads, where cleaning, patching and recarpeting works are being carried out. In the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador, work is carried out at night to minimize the impact on traffic.
In addition to the rehabilitation of damaged sections, improvements in signaling and strategic extensions will be implemented to ensure safer circulation. These actions benefit drivers, pedestrians and productive sectors that depend on an efficient road network.
With this investment, the country is moving towards better connectivity, promoting economic and social development. The modernization of road infrastructure is key to facilitating trade, tourism and the growth of communities throughout the country.
