The minister of Labor received a document outlining various requests on behalf of the working class. “Salvadoran Trade Unionist Day is the product of struggles, victories, and battles. Many comrades gave their lives”, said the minister of Labor.
Minister of Labor Rolando Castro urged those present to consider this date a good day for reflection within the trade union movement and to set aside partisan politics. He emphasized the need for unity, not fragmentation or division, and stressed the importance of reclaiming the true values of a trade unionist.
During the event, the minister called on union leaders to organize in order to clarify the facts surrounding the attack that claimed the lives of several union leaders in 1989.
