The plan to transform the Historic Center began in 2015, when President Nayib Bukele was mayor of San Salvador. Since 2019, the initiative has allowed the recovery of streets and squares, turning them into safe and attractive spaces for tourism and investment.
The Autoridad del Centro Histórico has the mission to plan, control and manage socioeconomic development, restoration and revitalization projects within the tourist and cultural area. This has facilitated business growth and generated new job opportunities for salvadorans.
Thanks to these actions, the Historic Center of San Salvador is consolidated as a key point for tourism and investment, providing security and better conditions for the economic development of the country.
