Central America is at a turning point, accelerating its transition to a greener and more competitive economic future. This momentum is materializing with the recent launch of the Integración Económica para un Comercio Sostenible en Centroamérica» (EcoTRADE), project, a key initiative for the region.
With significant financial backing from the European Union and under the strategic execution of the Secretaría de Integración Económica Centroamericana (SIECA), EcoTRADE marks the beginning of a new era. This project seeks to build a foundation for sustainable trade that benefits all economic actors, especially MSMEs.

This joint effort between the two regions not only fosters regional integration, but also strengthens the Central American countries’ capacity to take full advantage of the Association Agreement with the EU (AA). The synergy between the EU and Central America promotes inclusive and environmentally friendly growth.

EcoTRADE will provide crucial support to MSMEs, facilitating the reduction of trade barriers and streamlining cross-border processes. This will improve mobility and logistics and expand investment opportunities in the region, consolidating Central America as a strategic hub for international trade.

The implementation of EcoTRADE is expected to modernize customs processes and strengthen regional value chains. The region is moving towards a productive transformation with a green, digital, competitive and equitable approach, promising sustained development for all.
