
In 2025, El Salvador expects to receive 4 million visitors, with an estimated economic impact of US$3.5 billion, thanks in part to international events such as the Surf City El Salvador Longboard Championships, according to Tourism minister Morena Valdez. These events not only boost the economy, but also generate direct and indirect jobs in the country.

Details of the Surf City Longboard Championships
On tuesday, a press conference was held for the World Surf League (WSL) Surf City El Salvador Longboard Championships at El Sunzal beach, an international event that brings together the world’s best longboard athletes. The competition will take place from november 5 to 9 and will feature eight female and eight male athletes competing for the WSL world title.

Economic and tourist importance
Minister Valdez emphasized that these types of international competitions not only promote tourism in the country, but are also key to economic growth, foreign exchange earnings, and job creation in various sectors linked to tourism, from hospitality to gastronomy.

Outstanding athletes
Among the most eagerly awaited athletes is Taylor Jensen, who already has three world longboard titles, the last one obtained in 2024 precisely on the waves of El Sunzal. Jensen returns this year with the goal of maintaining his lead in the world rankings.
El Sunzal Beach is establishing itself as the world epicenter of longboarding, welcoming the elite of the sport who, after three dates in the regular season, will compete in the final on salvadoran soil.
