From 2019 to date, the Fondo Social para la Vivienda (FSV) has granted a total of 38,425 credits for homeownership, representing an investment of US$828.02 million. This figure has allowed 161,385 salvadorans to have access to a home, according to the minister of Housing, Michelle Sol. The official emphasized that these loans have not only promoted the acquisition of homes, but have also boosted the national economy.
Loans 2024So far in 2024, 5,117 loans have been granted, with an investment of US$126.53 million. Of this amount, US$60.89 million has been earmarked for the purchase of 1,603 new homes, and US$48.22 million for 2,225 used homes and other options. Also, 1,289 homes have been financed from extraordinary assets, which shows the government’s continued effort to facilitate access to housing.
In september 2024, 433 new beneficiaries received loans for the purchase of their homes, with an investment of US$15.19 million. These data demonstrate the commitment of the Ministry of Housing to continue promoting programs that favor salvadoran families.
Of the loans granted, 9,486 have been for the purchase of new homes, totaling US$335.24 million, while 20,352 loans, equivalent to US$380.99 million, have been for used homes and other lines of credit. In addition, 8,587 homes from extraordinary assets have been included, with a total investment of US$111.79 million, highlighting the diversity of options available to salvadorans seeking housing.
Minister Sol highlighted that the recovery of territories previously affected by violence has allowed more families to decide to return and invest in areas that were previously considered high risk. “Our territories are free of violence and recovered”, she said, emphasizing the positive impact this has had on access to housing in El Salvador.
