In an effort to promote economic development in vulnerable communities in El Salvador, representatives of the Dirección de Cooperación para América Latina y el Caribe (DCALC) and the Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID) met with the President of the Comisión Nacional de la Micro y Pequeña Empresa (CONAMYPE), Paul Steiner.
The main focus of the meeting was to follow up on the project “Economic Empowerment of Women in Extremely Poor Municipalities”, a key initiative to promote female entrepreneurship as a driver of social and economic transformation.
During the meeting, Leticia de Guindos and Marta Suárez, representing DCALC, together with Pilar Montero and Raquel Lozano from AECID, evaluated the progress of the project’s Status Report. On this occasion, they also discussed the possibility of making adjustments to the original agreement through an addendum, with the aim of expanding the scope and benefits of the initiative in the neediest communities.
The project seeks to generate opportunities for women entrepreneurs through training, access to resources and the strengthening of commercial networks, thus promoting their economic autonomy. This strategy not only improves the living conditions of the beneficiaries, but also contributes to local economic growth, reducing inequality and stimulating sustainable development in the participating municipalities.
International cooperation plays a crucial role in the success of this initiative. Through joint work among the entities involved, it is hoped to consolidate a replicable model that demonstrates how entrepreneurship can be an effective tool to combat extreme poverty and generate a long-term positive impact on the communities of El Salvador.
