The Government is co-organizing in El Salvador the IDForo 2024 Summit, an event that brings together government leaders, technology specialists, visionary companies and academics from different parts of Ibero-America to analyze the impact of emerging technologies in the economy of this region.
The head of the Ministry of Economy, María Luisa Hayem, together with other government officials, participated in the inauguration of the event. The event is organized together with IDForo, a non-profit initiative that provides meeting spaces for the discussion and evaluation of digital transformation trends.
“A sign of the world’s interest in what is happening in El Salvador is the presence this afternoon and in the coming days of representatives from 20 Ibero-American countries who are accompanying us to share experiences and create synergies to continue advancing in a digital transformation throughout the region”, said in her opening remarks the Minister of Economy, who serves as president of the summit.
The official reviewed the initiatives that have been implemented under the administration of the Government of El Salvador to promote the development of the digital sector in the country, the main objective of phase 2 of the Economic Plan.
He mentioned among these, the approval of the Law for the Promotion of Innovation and Manufacturing of Technologies of El Salvador, which provides incentives for 15 years to companies in this sector; the implementation of the electronic signature and the modernization and simplification of government services.
During the three-day IDForo 2024 Summit, participants will address key issues that are defining the digital economy in Ibero-America, such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation projects, cybersecurity and trust services, innovation and technological tools, trends in data management and financial disruption, and technological investment in the region.
The choice of El Salvador as the venue for this summit is a recognition of the nation’s commitment to promote an environment of innovation and technological development for the region, said IDForo representatives.
