Total assets of the salvadoran banking system reached US$24,793.5 million, which represents an inter-annual increase of more than US$1,199.4 million, equivalent to an increase of 5.1%, according to the most recent report of the Asociación Bancaria Salvadoreña (ABANSA). This growth reflects the economic recovery and the sector’s confidence in the country’s financial market, highlighting the performance of the main banks.
Banco Agrícola leads the system with assets totaling US$5,877.5 million, showing an increase over the same period last year, when its assets totaled US$5,739.8 million. Its share in the total banking system is 23.7%, consolidating its position as the largest financial player in the country.
In second position is Banco Cuscatlán, whose assets amount to US$4,159.9 million, a significant increase compared to the US$4,004.9 million recorded a year earlier. This bank has a 16.8% market share, positioning itself as a key entity in the national economy.
BAC Credomatic is in third position, with assets totaling US$3,617.3 million, compared to US$3,263.4 million the previous year. Its participation in the total banking assets is 14.6%, evidencing its strengthening in the market.
At the bottom of the table, Citibank ranks 12th with US$234.3 million in assets, while ABANK is in 13th place with US$188.8 million. These data confirm a concentrated distribution in the three main banks, which together represent 55.1% of the total salvadoran banking system.
