The different energy distributors in El Salvador have announced that electricity rates will remain unchanged during the quarter between january 15 and april 14, 2025. This measure benefits residential and general category users who have consumed a monthly average of 300 kWh or less, who will continue to pay the same costs as in 2024. Users with higher consumption will continue with the rates in effect since october 2024.
In addition, the residential subsidy for families with consumption below 105 kWh per month will remain in force. This financial support allows the most vulnerable households to keep the electricity supply accessible, strengthening their family economy and helping to reduce the gap in access to basic services.
With this decision, the authorities seek to protect citizens from possible increases in energy market prices. This is part of a stabilization policy that seeks to guarantee predictability in electricity expenses and protect consumers from negative impacts on their finances.
The government reaffirms its commitment to creating fairer and more sustainable conditions for residential and commercial users in the country. These measures not only ensure stable rates, but also strengthen the confidence of salvadorans in public policies related to basic services.
By maintaining these rates, it is expected that most consumers will benefit from a more favorable and predictable economic environment, which reinforces the well-being of families and promotes more equitable development in El Salvador.
