In the first phase, the infrastructure will have a 2,400 meter runway and two gates, allowing the transit of 300,000 passengers per year with 2,000 air operations. The second phase will extend the runway to 3,000 meters, incorporate eight additional gates, and allow 1,000,000 passengers with 8,000 annual operations. In the final phase, a flow of 5,000,000 passengers per year is expected, with a 3,000-meter runway and 18 gates in total.
During the event, the President emphasized that the project is part of the Cuscatlán Plan and reaffirmed his commitment to the environment. “It has been guaranteed with international studies that there will be compensation in areas of trees, and even more. The environment wins with a project like this”, said Bukele.

The Aeropuerto del Pacifico will not only facilitate air transportation, but is also projected as an engine of economic growth for the eastern region. “It is a gateway to development, tourism, investment and economic growth for the entire area”, said the President.
In addition to the airport, the Government recently inaugurated the El Jagüey Aerodrome in the coastal area of La Unión, strengthening connectivity and guaranteeing sustainable development in the region. Both infrastructures seek to consolidate El Salvador as a strategic hub in the region.

With this new airport, the country advances in its logistical and economic transformation, ensuring a more dynamic and competitive future for its inhabitants and the business sector.
