
Lopes Alves will succeed Eduardo Coello, who will assume the role of Chairman of Visa in the region
Rodrigo Cury promoted to Senior Vice President, General Manager for Brazil
Visa (NYSE:V) announced today the appointment of Nuno Lopes Alves as its new Regional President for Latin America and the Caribbean. Lopes Alves succeeds Eduardo Coello, who will assume a new role as Chairman for the region. Visa also announced that Rodrigo Cury has been promoted to General Manager for Brazil.
Lopes Alves will bring more than 25 years of experience in banking, payments, and consulting to his role. With eight years at Visa, in his most recent role he served as General Manager for Brazil, where he led the business transformation in one of the most dynamic and evolving payments markets in the world since 2021. He joined Visa in 2017 to lead business development in Brazil and subsequently served as General Manager of the Andean Region, driving Visa’s growth in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Previously, Lopes Alves developed his career with diverse experience in consulting and finance, holding leadership positions at multinationals such as Accenture and Barclays.

Lopes Alves will be based in Miami and will assume his new role on october 1. He will report to Oliver Jenkyn, Group President, Global Markets, Visa. Eduardo Coello, who joined Visa more than two decades ago and has led Latin America and the Caribbean since 2015, will support this transition as he assumes his new role as Chairman. In this new role, Coello will lead key strategic engagements with government officials and industry leaders. He will also serve as a special advisor on leadership talent development and operating model optimization.

Rodrigo Cury, with more than 25 years of experience in banking and payments leadership roles, will assume his new role leading Visa’s business in Brazil on october 1. He will continue to be based in São Paulo, where he led business development for private banks and acquirers in Brazil since joining the company in 2024.
