The Marina Nacional de El Salvador achieved a new record in the fight against international drug trafficking by intercepting a vessel 1,150 nautical miles (2,130 km) off the country’s coast. The vessel was crewed by three Ecuadorian drug traffickers who were transporting 1,795 kilos of cocaine, with an estimated value of over $44.8 million USD.

This event adds to the results obtained on the high seas during 2024 and so far in 2025, during which a total of 39 tons of drugs have been seized, valued at more than $977 million USD.

Authorities describe this seizure as a significant blow to international drug trafficking and reiterate their commitment to continuing the fight against organized crime, despite any obstacles that may arise.
