In the framework of “Food Day” and in its commitment to the well-being of salvadoran families, Walmart El Salvador received recognition from the Food Bank of El Salvador for being a tireless ally by joining the “Unidos Alimentamos” campaign, an initiative that aims to provide support to vulnerable communities and strengthen food security in the country.
The company has benefited more than 45,000 people in the country through its ongoing support of the Food Bank of El Salvador, contributing to the well-being of thousands of families in nine departments through 53 beneficiary institutions.

Since its inception, Walmart has been a strategic ally of the Food Bank of El Salvador, promoted by the Asociación Civil Alimentos Solidarios, which serves communities made up primarily of children, seniors, people with disabilities, and single mothers. This effort is part of the company’s global commitment to reducing food waste and promoting food security in the regions where it operates.
One of the most important pillars of this partnership has been the investment in infrastructure that strengthens the Bank’s operational capacity. Walmart has invested more than $270,000 in refrigerated trucks and specialized equipment, which maintains the cold chain and ensures that food reaches beneficiary communities in optimal conditions. This contribution not only improves the Food Bank’s logistical efficiency but also expands its reach to new areas of the country.

In addition to in-kind donations and investment in equipment, Walmart fosters a culture of solidarity among its associates. Through educational volunteer programs, the company’s employees receive training that allows them to actively participate in food deliveries and awareness-raising activities on nutrition and sustainability. This year two volunteer days have been held, with the participation of approximately 60 associates committed to serving the neediest communities.

“Since the Food Bank’s inception, Walmart has been present, supporting its growth and sustainability. Our commitment is to help more Salvadoran families have access to food and development opportunities”, said Sandra Cáceres, Corporate Affairs Coordinator for Walmart in El Salvador.

With these actions, Walmart demonstrates that its business vision goes beyond offering everyday low prices; it is also about generating a positive and sustainable social impact. In partnership with the Food Bank of El Salvador, the company continues working to strengthen community support networks and contribute to a more just and supportive country.
On this International Food Day, Walmart reaffirms its commitment to continue building a future where no one goes hungry and where collaboration between the private sector, social organizations, and communities is the key to achieving real and sustainable development.
