The Legislative Assembly approved a special, temporary decree that modifies the provisions regarding Christmas bonus payments and the additional annual benefit stipulated by the Comprehensive Pension System Law, as well as child support payments regulated by current legislation.
This means that payments previously received in december can now begin to be received from the date the decree, approved on october 29th in the Plenary Session, takes effect.

The legislators stated that the goal is to stimulate the economy, as Christmas bonuses are known to generate up to US$200 million in commerce during the end-of-year season. The purpose of this decree is to adapt the payment process for these benefits considering the recent extension of the delivery period for the Christmas bonus and additional cash compensation, established by the reforms to the Labor Code and the Law on Additional Cash Compensation, approved on october 15, 2025.

According to the decree, pension institutions must guarantee the proper execution and availability of funds, allowing for the payment of the Christmas bonus and the annual additional benefit from the date the law enters into force until the fifth business day of december. Similarly, alimony payments may be made until december 1st to benefit the respective recipients.

The decree clarifies that acquired rights and the calculation methods for the amounts remain unchanged; everything is maintained in accordance with current laws. The Instituto Salvadoreño de Pensiones, Órgano Judicial and Procuraduría General de la República are authorized to issue resolutions and guidelines to facilitate the application of the new provisions.
The decree is temporary and special in nature, effective from its publication until december 6, 2025, and will supersede any conflicting regulations during that period.
