The latest Monthly Securities Bulletin of the Superintendencia del Sistema Financiero (SSF) reveals that up to june 2024, 4,850 transactions were carried out, totaling US$2,934.6 million. This volume of transactions represents a remarkable inter-annual growth of 67.1%.
Specifically, in june, the Bolsa de Valores de El Salvador (BVES) recorded 803 transactions totaling US$468.1 million. This increase in the stock exchange’s activity reflects a significant dynamism in the financial market during the first half of the year.
In the primary fixed-income and equity markets, where investors purchase assets directly from issuers, transactions totaled US$969.9 million. This figure far exceeds the US$376.2 million of the same period in 2023. Participation quotas in closed-end funds stood out with an amount of US$307.5 million, leading the placement of financial instruments.
International purchase and sale operations reached US$263.1 million at the end of the sixth month of the year. The BVES indicated that local sovereign debt was the most traded instrument in this segment. In the stock market, US$58.7 million were traded, mostly derived from the negotiation of foreign instruments.
