In 2025, member banks of the Asociación Bancaria Salvadoreña (ABANSA) strengthened their physical and digital presence, expanding services and facilitating access to payments and transactions for the population. This effort reflects a commitment to bringing banking closer to homes and businesses throughout the country, ensuring greater convenience, security, and control.
According to ABANSA’s consolidated data as of december 2025, the number of financial correspondents reached 8,900 points, representing an increase of more than 1,200 new points (+18.2%) compared to previous years. These correspondences allow customers to conduct banking transactions near their homes or workplaces, reducing the need to travel to bank branches and streamlining payments and collections.

There was also a significant rollout of POS and EFTPOS terminals, totaling over 156,000 (+11,000, +10.9%), facilitating fast and secure payments at businesses. At the same time, the banking sector maintains 445 physical branches and over 1,800 ATMs, including multifunctional ones, ensuring that banking services are accessible to the population in different regions of the country.
This infrastructure growth is complemented by the increased adoption of digital banking. More than 1.55 million people use online banking, while 1.5 million use mobile banking apps, according to EY’s banking penetration study. The combination of physical and digital coverage ensures that people can make payments, transfers, and other financial transactions more easily and securely, regardless of their location.

Expanding banking coverage not only aims to provide convenience for customers but also to foster financial inclusion and trust in the system. With more service points and digital solutions, ABANSA member banks promote closer and more secure access to financial products, reinforcing their role in the country’s economic development.
