The Government of El Salvador continues to strengthen the agricultural sector through the Aumento a la Producción program, a strategy that seeks to increase national food production, improve farmers’ profitability, and guarantee food supplies for salvadoran families.
The Honorary Vice Minister of the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG),Oscar Domínguez, explained that the program includes the development of over 3,600 blocks (approximately 3,600 acres) dedicated to vegetable cultivation, the installation of 1,600 protected structures for agricultural production, and support for over 130,000 manzanas (approximately 1,300 acres) of staple grains throughout the country.
According to the official, one of the main components of the initiative is the incorporation of modern technology and tools to make agricultural production more efficient. Most of the cultivated areas have irrigation systems, which reduces dependence on weather conditions and improves crop yields.

In addition, producers receive specialized technical assistance to optimize planting, management, and harvesting processes. The program also includes satellite monitoring of crops, facilitating the tracking of production conditions and enabling timely decision-making to prevent losses.
Domínguez emphasized that the beneficiary farmers have access to agricultural inputs at cost, which helps reduce production expenses and increase the sector’s competitiveness. They also have guaranteed marketing mechanisms, providing them with greater opportunities to place their products on the market.
The strategy is based on four fundamental pillars: the modernization of agricultural processes, the implementation of cutting-edge technology, the mechanization of cultivation tasks, and the use of high-yield, non-genetically modified seeds.

According to authorities, these actions aim to increase the productivity of El Salvador’s agricultural sector, strengthen the country’s food security, and generate better incomes for thousands of farmers.
“The work doesn’t stop” ,the deputy minister affirmed, reiterating the government’s commitment to continue promoting initiatives that strengthen national production and contribute to the economic development of rural communities.
