The U.S. Embassy in El Salvador warned the public about an increase in scams related to visa applications and fake job offers, urging Salvadorans to verify information before handing over money or sharing personal data.
In a message released through its official channels, the diplomatic mission reiterated that it is the only entity authorized to process and issue nonimmigrant and immigrant visas. It also emphasized that no person or company can guarantee visa approval or expedite the process in exchange for payment.

The Embassy explained that scammers often promise approved visas, offer jobs in the United States that people never applied for, or demand money to initiate purported immigration procedures. Given these situations, the Embassy recommended being wary of any such proposals, pausing before making any payments, and always verifying information through official channels.
Authorities also urged citizens not to provide personal documents, banking information, or send money transfers to individuals claiming to have contacts within the Embassy or offering to expedite immigration processes, as these practices are part of fraud schemes.

If you suspect you have been the victim of a scam or received a fraudulent offer related to visas or employment in the United States, the Embassy asked the public to file a report. To do so, they provided the email address DenunciaSV@state.gov the phone number 2501-2636, and the WhatsApp number 7507-4606.
The diplomatic mission reiterated that the best way to avoid these types of scams is to consult only information published on its official channels and to be wary of anyone promising guaranteed results or requesting payments outside of established procedures.
