Housing Minister Michelle Sol is carrying out a work agenda in Washington, D.C., focused on securing new funding sources for the housing sector, particularly for developers of social housing projects.
As part of this agenda, the minister participated in an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) forum, accompanied by a salvadoran business delegation and representatives from the Cámara Salvadoreña de la Industria de la Construcción (CASALCO), the Oficina de Planificación del Área Metropolitana de San Salvador (COAMSS/OPAMSS) and the Planning Office of the San Salvador Metropolitan Area (OPAMSS).
The primary objective of these meetings is to analyze alternatives that facilitate access to financing for housing developers. To this end, the minister met with BID Invest to discuss potential funding sources that could help boost the construction of housing projects.

The search for financing is linked to the goal of expanding the supply of social housing for Salvadoran families. The plan involves creating new investment opportunities and financing mechanisms that enable the private sector to develop more projects.
The participation of business and construction sector representatives in these forums aims to bridge the gap between developers’ needs and international financial institutions. The goal is to identify options that can support the execution of new housing projects.
This initiative also involves collaborating with international financial institutions to drive social housing projects. The aim is to join forces and find alternatives to strengthen the financing capacity available for this segment.

For the private sector, access to new funding sources can help expand the capacity to develop housing projects. Minister Michelle Sol’s agenda seeks to explore these possibilities directly with BID Invest and other stakeholders involved in financing and investment.
Through these efforts in Washington, the Ministry of Housing seeks to identify resources and investment opportunities to increase the construction of social housing, with broader private sector participation and the backing of international financial institutions.
