This shopping center is an investment in the future of Usulután and a reflection of Agrisal’s vision to foster prosperous, humane and sustainable communities”.
Why Usulután?
The decision to establish Plaza Mundo in Usulután responds to a strategic analysis that identified the potential for growth and development in this region. Usulután is an area with a bright future, rich in culture and traditions, and with a community ready to welcome new opportunities.
“We are proud to be part of this project that will bring multiple benefits to Usulután and the surrounding area. Plaza Mundo Usulután not only represents a significant advance in the commercial infrastructure of the region, but also a commitment to the development and well-being of the municipality”, said Ricardo Augspurg Meza, Director of Agrisal’s Real Estate Unit.
Diverse commercial offerings and support for entrepreneurs
Plaza Mundo Usulután offers a varied commercial offer that includes gastronomic options, supermarkets, convenience stores, household appliances, fashion and banking services. This offer is backed by well-known brands and an outstanding selection of local brands with a solid track record in the eastern region. This approach not only ensures visitor satisfaction, but also strengthens the local economy by supporting both major brands and new entrepreneurs.
Entertainment and Culture: Spaces that Inspire
Plaza Mundo Usulután stands out for its modern and functional design, which not only incorporates emblematic elements of the region, but also enriches the cultural and social life of the community. With an investment of US$52 million, this shopping center offers a unique experience in harmony with nature. The 6,000 m² Central Plaza is the heart of the project, housing an impressive amphitheater with a capacity for 700 people, ideal for cultural events and shows that will revitalize local life.
Surrounded by local vegetation such as impressive conacaste, ceiba and eucalyptus trees, the plaza also features modern dancing fountains and an artificial lagoon that evokes the natural beauty of the Laguna de Alegria. A monumental bridge, inspired by the iconic Puente de Oro, connects different areas of the mall, symbolizing the union and accessibility that Plaza Mundo promotes. In addition, the center has a parking lot with capacity for 800 vehicles, ensuring comfort and ease of access for all visitors.
Social Impact through the Fundación Rafael Meza Ayau
Agrisal, in alliance with the Fundación Rafael Meza Ayau, has implemented the “Alto Impacto Usulután” program, which has already benefited more than 3,000 people in the community working hand in hand with key local stakeholders. This program ranges from technical training and employment to social innovation and strengthening the community fabric, all aligned with Agrisal’s purpose of creating prosperous, humane and sustainable communities.
Sustainability and Photovoltaic Plant in Usulután
In line with its commitment to sustainability, Agrisal has installed more than 3,000 solar cells at Plaza Mundo Usulután, with a capacity of 2.7 MWp and an investment of US$2 million. This plant will generate 4.7 MWh per year, which is equivalent to reducing the emission of tons of CO2 comparable to planting 32,260 trees. This effort underscores Agrisal’s commitment to clean energy production, energy efficiency, and minimizing environmental impact.
A Legacy of Progress
“The opening of Plaza Mundo Usulután represents a crucial step toward the future of retail and entertainment in El Salvador. With the creation of approximately 2,000 new jobs during its operation, this shopping center not only boosts economic development, but also contributes significantly to the well-being of the local community. With its diversified offerings and its focus on the community, Plaza Mundo Usulután is positioned as a reference for those seeking quality experiences in a modern and welcoming environment”, said Eduardo Quiñónez, President of Agrisal.
