The President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, has announced a notable expansion of AgroMercados in the country, bringing the total number of these outlets to 44. With the opening of six new locations, the government seeks to offer the population a greater variety of fresh produce at more accessible prices. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to improve food security and support the local economy.
The new locations include the Parque Ecológico de Olocuilta in La Paz, the Placita El Calvario in Chalatenango, the Campo de la Feria in San Francisco Gotera, Morazán, the area in front of Suchitoto City Hall in Cuscatlán, the Parque Central de Aguilares in San Salvador Norte, and District 2 in Nuevo Lourdes, La Libertad. These new sites are strategically located to facilitate citizens’ access to high quality products.
President Bukele emphasized that the AgroMercados not only provide fresh food at competitive prices, but also help ease the economic burden on salvadoran families. The markets operate at convenient hours, from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., ensuring that products are available to consumers at the best time of the day.
With this expansion, the government continues its commitment to food security and strengthening the local economy by providing access to essential products at affordable prices. The opening of these new points of sale reinforces the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life of salvadorans.
In addition, the president reported that the AgroMercados network will continue to grow, with plans to open more locations in the future. Each AgroMercado offers a variety of products that often exceed the price list published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock on its social networks, providing even more options to consumers.
