AES El Salvador, through AES EEO, has commissioned the new El Algodón substation in Santa Rosa de Lima, La Unión; a strategic project designed to strengthen the electricity supply in the eastern region.
As part of the electric company’s commitment to providing quality service, the upgrade of the electrical grid in this area was completed on may 31. The main objective of this work is to ensure the continuity and reliability of the supply in the face of growing energy demand, driven by the intense heat waves experienced across the country in recent months.

With the commissioning of the El Algodón substation, located in the district of Santa Rosa de Lima, the load capacity of the electrical grid in the northern part of the department of La Unión is immediately strengthened, thereby mitigating problems caused by demand overloads. This project will benefit more than 29,000 customers in the districts of Santa Rosa de Lima, Bolívar, Concepción de Oriente, El Sauce, Pasaquina, Polorós, San José, San Alejo, Yayantique, and Yucuaiquín. It will also have a positive impact on the districts of Jocoro (Morazán department), Comacarán, and San Miguel (San Miguel department).

With this initiative, AES EEO continues to modernize the country’s electrical distribution infrastructure, implementing solutions that respond promptly to the energy challenges arising from climate change and the increased electricity consumption caused by the growth of commercial activity in these areas.
