Avícola Campestre, a 100% salvadoran company of San Miguel origin, announced the official opening of its new hatchery, located on Carretera al Delirio, Hacienda Las Ceibas, in El Tecomatal, Municipality and Department of San Miguel.
This project, which represents an investment of over US$8 million, consolidates its growth strategy and reflects its firm commitment to innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.
The new plant, which will be named “Gloria Romero Incubator” in honor of the group’s founder, incorporates 21-day incubation processes, supported by cutting-edge technology and strict care at every stage. With this initiative, Avícola Campestre will produce its own newborn chicks internally, ensuring greater quality control and strengthening coverage of its entire value chain, from incubation to the marketing of processed chicken in various forms.
The total area of the plant, including access road, perimeter area and construction, is approximately 6,000 m², with a construction area of 2,500 m².
A key aspect of this project is that it will efficiently meet the domestic demand of Pollo Campestre restaurants, ensuring that consumers enjoy fresh, safe, and high-quality products. With this opening, the company becomes a vertically integrated industry, capable of self-sufficiently covering the entire production cycle: from incubation, rearing, and processing, to the marketing of finished products.
“The Avicola Campestre Hatchery is a clear example of our commitment to sustainable progress. We are not only strengthening our production capacity but also driving local economic development. With this investment, we reaffirm that Avícola Campestre is a Salvadoran company that innovates to serve the families of our country”, said Engineer Sergio Romero, director of the Poultry & Energy Business Unit at Avícola Campestre.
The plant is designed for an annual production of up to 23 million newborn chickens, allowing us to meet our growth targets for the next five years.
Strategic benefits of the project:
• Strengthening the value chain: Ensures efficiency and quality from source to final consumer.
• Productive self-sufficiency: Consolidates Avícola Campestre as a vertically integrated company.
• Economic boost: Generates new employment opportunities and boosts the regional and national economy.
• Technological innovation: Incorporates advanced processes that increase competitiveness in the poultry industry.
• Shared value: Promotes collaborative work with strategic partners, suppliers, and customers.
• GMP compliance: Applied in all processes from fertile eggs to newborn chicks.
• Biosafety protocol: Strict entry controls, hygiene procedures, and procedures for people, tools, and raw materials are implemented, in addition to microbiological and serological monitoring and rodent control.
In addition, the plant joins Avícola Campestre’s sustainability strategy, which already produces clean energy from biogas and solar panels, reducing its environmental footprint and promoting a circular economy model.
Initially, this opening has generated more than 20 direct jobs, in addition to the more than 800 jobs through its farms, processing plant, marketing, biogas, and now with the hatchery and nearly 50 jobs during the construction period. In addition, it has boosted local suppliers and distribution chains, creating income opportunities in the region.
With this investment, Avícola Campestre reaffirms its commitment to the poultry sector, guaranteeing high-quality products, supporting the salvadoran economy, and contributing to the country’s sustainable growth. The plant is expected to be operating at 100% of domestic demand by november 2026.
