The Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) approved US$1.445 billion in financing for strategic projects in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, El Salvador, and Honduras. The funds will be used for key works such as aqueducts, urban mobility, improvements to the education system, immigration security and support for the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

CAF’s executive president, Sergio Díaz-Granados, highlighted that this investment will strengthen more dynamic and inclusive economies in the region. “CAF is consolidating its position as a key ally in financing and knowledge generation for the development of our countries”, he said.
In Santiago, Chile, with the presence of President Gabriel Boric, CAF’s new headquarters in the country was formalized, which will include a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. The building will prioritize sustainability, with 80% of the land allocated to green areas connected to the Parque Bicentenario.

Operations approved include the Integral Urban and Metropolitan Logistics Program in Rosario, Argentina; the Urbanization and Mobility Program in Fortaleza, Brazil; a line of credit for the Banco de Crédito e Inversiones in Chile; the modernization of the educational system in El Salvador; and support for the human mobility strategy in Honduras.

CAF also reinforced its commitment to sustainable development through environmental agreements with the Governor’s Office of Aysén and OLADE. It also strengthened its relationship with the private sector and civil society through alliances with financial and cultural entities in the region.
