The Cámara de Comercio e Industria de El Salvador (Camarasal) and Oficina de Planificación del Área Metropolitana de San Salvador (OPAMSS) formalized an Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement to strengthen the economic, social, and territorial development of the Área Metropolitana de San Salvador (AMSS), through strategic coordination between the private sector and public institutions.
The agreement was signed by the president of Camarasal, Leticia Escobar, and the executive director of OPAMSS, Luis Eduardo Rodríguez, who agreed that collaboration between the two entities will promote initiatives aimed at more efficient, competitive, and sustainable urban planning.
According to Rodríguez, the agreement will facilitate the integration of technical and institutional capacities to promote territorial planning, attract investment, strengthen urban sustainability, and generate greater economic and social opportunities for the municipalities that make up the AMSS. He emphasized that this cooperation will allow progress toward a long-term metropolitan vision.

Escobar emphasized that the alliance reflects the importance of building the country’s development through joint work between the public and private sectors. He noted that Camarasal supports these types of agreements as tools to improve business competitiveness, promote investment, and boost the metropolitan economy.
Among the commitments made, Camarasal will promote business training programs, technical assistance, entrepreneurship, and employability, as well as facilitate companies’ access to national and international markets. Meanwhile, OPAMSS will provide technical and regulatory information, prepare strategic planning studies, and promote local development projects that strengthen the metropolitan area’s competitiveness.
The agreement also includes promoting technological innovation, urban sustainability, and collaborative governance, as well as strengthening alliances with academia and international cooperation, considered key elements for the economic growth and social cohesion of the Área Metropolitana de San Salvador (AMSS).

To ensure the achievement of these objectives, both institutions agreed to create an Comité de Enlace Interinstitucional, which will be responsible for coordinating actions, monitoring projects, and evaluating the progress of the agreement.
With this alliance, Camarasal and OPAMSS reaffirm their commitment to working together for sustainable metropolitan development, aimed at generating employment, attracting investment, and improving the quality of life for the population of the San Salvador Metropolitan Area.
