The Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA) has reported significant progress in El Salvador’s international trade. To date, the Port of Acajutla has mobilized more than 3.3 million metric tons in imports and exports, reflecting a solid growth in the country’s port activity. In addition, container throughput has increased by 13% and TEUS handling by 9% compared to 2023.
At the Air Cargo Terminal, CEPA has mobilized more than 18.9 million kilograms in imports and exports during this year, representing a notable increase of 24% over the previous year. This growth in air cargo traffic not only demonstrates the robustness of the sector, but also reinforces El Salvador’s position as a key hub for international trade.
These advances are vital to the salvadoran economy, boosting trade and fostering growth in the logistics sector. In addition, the increased efficiency and capacity of ports and air terminals strengthens tourism by facilitating the entry of essential goods and services, thus improving the country’s competitiveness in the global marketplace.
The positive impact of these figures also extends to local trade, as increased connectivity and cargo movement capacity allows salvadoran companies to access new international markets. This, in turn, generates employment and boosts the economy, contributing to the country’s sustainable development.
