A. M. Guatemala’s Interoceanic Corridor, a multimodal transportation infrastructure megaproject designed to revolutionize global trade, has taken a historic step with the launch of COINGT, the largest regulated digital asset in the history of El Salvador and the world.
This milestone marks a new era in the digital asset issuance industry, consolidating El Salvador as a global leader in financial innovation. COINGT, backed by real-world assets, has been officially licensed by the Comisión Nacional de Activos Digitales de El Salvador (CNAD), following a rigorous certification and regulatory compliance process. This issuance, carried out under El Salvador’s innovative Digital Asset Issuance Law, represents a strategic advance for the region’s economic and financial development. COINGT’s launch was celebrated in a massive event at the Estadio Cuscatlán in San Salvador, where business leaders, investors, government representatives and international media gathered to witness the beginning of a new era in real asset tokenization. In addition, this event marked a key moment by bringing together all the contributing partners of the land parcels that make up the 372 km long by 140 m wide strip of land of the Interoceanic Corridor of Guatemala, who are an essential part in the development of the project and its impact on the region.
What is COINGT and why is it a financial milestone?
COINGT is a digital asset backed by real shares, designed to drive the development of the Interoceanic Corridor of Guatemala. It is a digital asset owned by the economic rights of the issuing company, which has a shareholding in the company that will own the Interoceanic Strip of Land, Consorcio Interoceánico de Guatemala, S.A., after the COINGT collection process; and consequently, the legal regularization of the plots and the voluntary relocation of the current inhabitants of the plots.
The COINGT issue aims to raise US$325.28 million, distributed in two tranches:
First tranche: US$38.52 million
Second tranche: US$286.76 million.
These funds will allow the regularization and unification of the Franja Interoceánica de Tierra (FIT), ensuring that the project is in an optimal state for its future construction.
