The Director General of Customs of El Salvador, Benjamín Mayorga, reported that the institution participated in the Forum on Best Practices for the Advance Management of Foreign Trade Operations, an event aimed at strengthening national competitiveness and consolidating coordinated work between the public and private sectors.
According to the official, the meeting facilitated the sharing of experiences and tools designed to optimize companies’ logistics planning, reduce processing times in customs procedures, and streamline foreign trade operations. Advance management, he explained, is a key component that allows operators to prepare documentation in advance, meet requirements, and schedule shipments more efficiently.
During the forum, Customs representatives presented the institution’s main initiatives to simplify procedures and expedite processes, including digital mechanisms and procedures that allow for greater predictability in operations. These actions are part of the customs modernization strategy, aimed at improving the business climate and strengthening the country’s competitiveness.
Mayorga emphasized that the central objective is for companies to learn about and take advantage of these tools, which translates into better planning, reduced logistics costs, and greater efficiency in the supply chain.
The event was supported by the Asociación Salvadoreña de Industriales (ASI), whose support was acknowledged by the head of Customs. He noted that collaboration between public institutions and business associations is fundamental to promoting a more agile and transparent foreign trade system aligned with the demands of the international market.
With initiatives like this, the Dirección General de Aduanas reaffirms its commitment to supporting the productive sector and contributing to the sustainable economic development of El Salvador through more efficient processes and modern foreign trade management.
