La Defensoría del Consumidor informs that it will publish the prices of products such as pastels and floral arrangements on its social networks, with the aim of guiding salvadoran consumers before making purchases on Mother’s Day and helping them find better options in the market.
The announcement was made by the president of the institution, Ricardo Salazar, during a verification operation carried out in the Metrosur shopping center, where compliance with the Consumer Protection Law was supervised before the increase in commercial activity prior to this celebration.
As the employee explained, the price publication seeks to provide clear and useful information so that consumers can compare costs and make more informed purchases.
“All this information guides and allows the consumer to be properly informed to make their purchases in places where they offer the best conditions”, said Salazar.
The operatives form part of the actions taken by the Government of President Nayib Bukele to protect the family economy during seasons of high commercial demand.
During inspections, Defense personnel check that establishments respect advertised promotions and offers, correctly display prices and maintain the coincidence between the value offered and the amount charged at the cash register.
Accordingly, the revisions include controls related to guarantees, labeling, food validity and prevention of false advertising, especially in businesses where demand for products and services to celebrate Mother’s Day increases.
The head of the Defensoría del Consumidor also announced the results of a survey on the consumption habits and preferences of Salvadorans during this season. According to the data, more than 80% of people consulted assured that they will celebrate Mother’s Day this year.
Of the total number of respondents, 47% indicated that they will hold the celebration in their homes, while 27% plan to hold it in restaurants.
Furthermore, more than 30% stated that they will make purchases related to floral arrangements, clothing items, perfumes, pastries and other products, while some 69% stated that they would make their purchases in shopping centers.
Ricardo Salazar recommends that consumers carefully review the purchase conditions, especially on digital platforms, checking characteristics, prices and guarantees of products before making payments.
It is also suggested to keep invoices and proof of purchase, as these documents are essential in the face of any claim related to guarantees, delivery failures or quality problems.
During the operation at Metrosur, consumers positively valued the inspections carried out by the Defensoría. Alma Buendía, one of the visitors to the shopping center, considered that these actions provide greater security to buyers and guarantee that prices are fair and transparent.
Silvia Tejada, in charge of a beauty salon, noted that this type of verification helps to ensure that commerce respects the prices established during one of the most active commercial seasons of the year.
The authorities reiterated that they would continue to carry out inspections in different parts of the country to guarantee compliance with regulations and protect the rights of salvadoran consumers during purchases on Mother’s Day.
