The Directorate of Municipal Works began the remodeling of the fifth school in the department of Chalatenango. The work will be carried out at the María Pilar Diez Ulzurrum Romeo school, in the hamlet of Buena Vista, canton Chilamate, municipality of Nueva Concepción, to benefit more than 120 students.

This project of the Presidential Program “Mi Nueva Escuela”, is part of a package of more than 80 schools that the DOM is executing nationwide, 12 of which have already been delivered.




The project consists of the demolition and reconstruction of two modules, one of them with two floors for a total of four classrooms, for students from kindergarten to sixth grade, who come from the Arracaos, Metayate, San Francisco, La Labranza and Buena Vista neighborhoods.
As part of the work, the crews will replace the ceiling with a thermo-acoustic ceiling, and install false ceilings and floors. The two-story building will have furnished and equipped classrooms and fans.
In addition, it will have a multipurpose room, playground, administration, teachers’ lounge, green areas, parking, kitchen-dining area, storage area, and an improvement of a chalet. Also planned is the construction of new sanitary services -currently pit toilets- through sewers connected to two wells -which will also be built- and includes a cistern with a pumping system.




It will have a new electrical and hydraulic system, a modern drainage system and a recreational area, among other works.
In Chalatenango, this work starts a few hours after the official remodeling of the educational center in the Petapa canton, in the district of El Carrizal, and a week after the remodeling of the school center in the Carasque canton of the district of Nueva Trinidad, in South Chalatenango.
In El Zapotal canton of the Ojos de Agua district, students are already using the new facilities; while in the Agua Caliente district, crews are making progress in the reconstruction of the Obrajuelo canton school center.


In Nueva Concepción, the DOM is making progress in the improvement of the municipal market, in Potonico it delivered a gastronomic plaza, while progress is being made in the drilling of a well to supply drinking water to the inhabitants of the district. To facilitate and speed up traffic, street improvements were made in San Luis del Carmen, San Miguel de Mercedes and Las Vueltas, among others.
In the department of Chalatenango, the DOM also executed 60 projects, including schools and the recovery of 62 kilometers of urban and rural streets, as well as the delivery of two modern health units in Azacualpa and Nombre de Jesús.
