In the framework of the Easter holiday, the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) issued a preventive alert for all salvadorans who plan to vacation. The objective is to prevent families from becoming victims of scams when booking ranches or lodging during these dates. The institution has detected an increase in fraud reports related to false advertisements on the Internet.

The FGR, through its official account on the social network X, warned about the risks of sharing banking information on unverified platforms. “You don’t know who could be on the other side” it posted, urging citizens to verify the authenticity of websites or applications before entering their personal data or making payments.
Key recommendations include not making advance deposits without first confirming that the accommodation actually exists. To do so, it is vital to know the exact location of the place, as well as to verify that the photographs or videos shared are recent and authentic. The existence of a formal website or application that supports the offer should also be considered.
In addition, the FGR suggests that users make sure they know the owners or managers of the accommodation, avoiding contacts that are limited only to the virtual world. This type of validation is essential to avoid falling for well-organized scams that offer prices that are too good to be real.

Reviewing the experiences of other users is another key measure to prevent scams. Serious rental platforms usually have comment sections or ratings, where future customers can learn about the real experience of other tourists.

With the slogan “Vacations without scams”, the FGR invites all citizens to enjoy responsibly, take precautions and follow these simple but effective recommendations to avoid ruining the holiday season.
