Through the Ministry of Housing, the Government continues its focus on the welfare of salvadoran families through a significant investment of US$20,000 for each home recovered and delivered to those who need it most. This morning, a group of families from the Atonal condominiums received their keys and deeds to new homes, after being relocated to the Las Margaritas housing development, located in Soyapango, San Salvador East.
The Minister of Housing, Michelle Sol, highlighted the importance of this effort, in which families at high risk for living in vulnerable areas have benefited from the Resettlement Program. “Today we are handing over the keys to these families who will finally be able to sleep peacefully, without fear of storms or violence”, she said.
In addition to families living in areas of natural risk, those who had been displaced due to gang violence also benefited. These families had lost control of their homes, and now, thanks to the security generated by the Plan Control Territorial and the exception regime, they have been able to return to their recovered homes.
Sol highlighted that the Government has managed to recover more than 9,000 homes that were usurped. “Each one of these homes represents an investment of approximately US$20,000, which goes towards the purchase, repair and registration of the property”, she explained. The homes were delivered to high-risk people, such as single mothers and elderly women, among them Julia Contreras Henríquez, 81, who lives with two teenage grandchildren.
The Fondo Social para la Vivienda took care of the necessary steps, from the purchase to the repairs and the registration of the deeds. This process not only implies an economic investment, but also a message of hope for salvadorans seeking stability.
This effort reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to transform lives and provide housing solutions to those who need it most. The delivery of homes is a tangible demonstration of the actions that continue to be implemented to improve the quality of life of salvadoran families and ensure a more secure and promising future for all.
