The panamanian vehicle was inspected at the El Amatillo facilities by personnel from the Dirección General de Aduanas del Ministerio de Hacienda and Policía Nacional Civil. After obtaining a suspicious verdict from a scanner, a physical inspection was conducted, identifying undeclared merchandise hidden under a shipment of PVC pipes.

After the discovery of the NORDIC brand fertilizers (originating in Guatemala) weighing 18,370.8 kilograms, a panamanian individual was arrested who was also transporting a considerable sum of cash.

This is the result of modernizations and technological innovations carried out by Customs, using high-power scanners that allow for the detection of illicit goods to guarantee national and regional security. Thus, the government of President Nayib Bukele, through the Anti-Contraband Plan and inter-institutional work, remains steadfast in the fight against merchandise smuggling at various border crossings, as well as at unauthorized points where products are being smuggled into the country illegally.
