The president of the Instituto Salvadoreño de Turismo (ISTU), Eny Aguiñada, reported this morning during a television interview that the Government of El Salvador has invested more than US$7 million in the renovation of the Costa del Sol, as part of the national strategy to strengthen tourism infrastructure and boost the local economy.

Aguiñada highlighted that this investment “translates directly into a sustained increase in both domestic and international tourist flow”, emphasizing the positive impact it has on job creation and economic activity in the coastal area.

In the context of the recent Morazánica Week, the official noted that more than 48,000 Honduran visitors entered the country between september 27 and october 5, representing a 14% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

“The modernization of the Costa del Sol not only improves the visitor experience, but also strengthens El Salvador’s competitiveness as a regional tourist destination”, said Aguiñada, who highlighted the preparedness of President Nayib Bukele’s government to welcome tourists during the high season.
The ISTU minister added that these actions are part of a comprehensive vision for tourism development, which seeks to consolidate El Salvador as a benchmark in infrastructure, visitor services, and economic sustainability in the Central American region.
