The Government of El Salvador maintains the constant work to strengthen diplomatic relations with allied countries, for the establishment of cooperation agreements that allow multiple benefits for salvadorans in different areas.
The Vice President of the Republic, Felix Ulloa, and the Ambassador of El Salvador to the United States, Milena Mayorga, met with U.S. Senators Bill Cassidy and Michael Bennet, in order to discuss key issues to promote economic development and strengthen bilateral relations.
This important meeting took place as part of the Vice President’s official visit to Washington, United States. In this meeting key aspects were discussed, such as El Salvador’s vision for the establishment of new investments. Also, the need to strengthen existing agreements such as the Free Trade Agreement between Central America, Dominican Republic and the United States (CAFTA), in order to ensure a level playing field in the global market.
They also discussed the transformation of El Salvador, driven by President Nayib Bukele, where the country has become the safest in the Western Hemisphere, while advancing towards economic take-off.
They also discussed the implementation of concrete actions to promote financial inclusion and the consolidation of the digital economy with a legal framework that attracts foreign companies, such as the Law to Promote Innovation and Technology Manufacturing.
They framed the commitment to modernize all State portfolios with the strategic support of Google, as well as the efforts to provide current and future generations with the necessary tools to face the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution.
Both senators expressed their openness to cooperate and work together with the government of President Bukele to establish permanent relations with El Salvador. They also expressed their desire to visit the country in the near future.
