The San Salvador City Hall will maintain its waiver of late payment interest on fees and special contributions until august 29, 2026. This measure allows taxpayers to regularize their municipal obligations without paying the surcharges generated by late payments.
The benefit is aimed at property owners and those responsible for tax debts in the districts of San Salvador, Mejicanos, Cuscatancingo, Ayutuxtepeque, and Ciudad Delgado. This measure seeks to facilitate the payment of outstanding accounts and provide an alternative for those who cannot pay their obligations in a single payment.
Among the included services are municipal cleaning, waste disposal, and public lighting fees, reflected in the electricity bill, as well as other property-related fees. It also includes contributions for beautification, construction, reconstruction, remodeling, improvement, and maintenance of parks, plazas, green areas, medians, and other public spaces.

The waiver applies to debts accrued up to May 30, 2026, and to those incurred thereafter, provided they are paid in full during the ordinance’s validity period. This allows taxpayers to eliminate late payment interest associated with their obligations.
Those unable to pay the full amount of their debt can request a payment plan, for which they must make a minimum down payment of 30% of the total tax amount, calculated without the waived interest. Once formalized, the agreement must be fulfilled on the established dates, even after the ordinance expires.
Failure to pay for two consecutive installments or the final installment will result in the automatic loss of the benefit and will make the total outstanding balance due again. Furthermore, taxpayers whose cases have already been referred to the courts for collection proceedings are excluded, including any applicable interest and penalties.

Property owners or those responsible for outstanding tax debts who wish to apply for the waiver can complete the process in person at any of the Atención Empresarial (PAE) located in the districts of San Salvador Centro.
The municipality encourages taxpayers to take advantage of this opportunity before august 29th to settle their accounts and avoid accruing further surcharges. Payment of municipal taxes contributes to the funding of public services and the maintenance of spaces that benefit the community.
