U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Sarah B. Rogers met with the President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas such as security, the adoption of technological infrastructure, and cultural preservation in the Western Hemisphere. The meeting was reported by the U.S. Embassy in El Salvador, which shared the official’s statements regarding the topics discussed.
In a statement, Rogers described the meeting as positive, noting that it allowed for a deeper dialogue on areas she considers priorities for the relationship between the two countries. Key issues mentioned included security, the integration of technological infrastructure, and the protection of cultural heritage areas in which the United States seeks to maintain and expand its collaboration with El Salvador.
During her remarks, the Assistant Secretary also addressed the transformations she believes the country has undergone regarding security and social coexistence. Rogers stated that El Salvador has made policy decisions aimed at strengthening order and progress, noting that these changes have helped move past much of the violence that plagued the salvadoran population for years.
“Law, order, and progress are policy choices. El Salvador has opted for them” the official said, referring to the direction the country has taken. She further noted that the results of these decisions are reflected in the achievements she has observed and in the conditions that are beginning to create new opportunities for the salvadoran people.
Rogers also shared her experience meeting salvadoran citizens, whom she described as warm, welcoming, and charming. In this context, she remarked that the population did not deserve the violence and barbarity imposed by gang rule, and noted that, having left that reality behind, the salvadoran people are now beginning to thrive.

The U.S. official reiterated that her country is proud to collaborate with El Salvador across various sectors, particularly in security and technology. These matters were a central part of the meeting with President Bukele, which also addressed cultural preservation as another area of shared interest.
The adoption of technological infrastructure was one of the three specific pillars mentioned by Rogers. This topic was part of discussions on how to deepen bilateral cooperation, alongside initiatives related to security and the protection of cultural heritage in the Western Hemisphere.
Regarding the relationship between the two countries, the Undersecretary highlighted the United States’ readiness to continue working with El Salvador on these issues and other areas of common interest. Her message underscored both the cooperation between the two governments and the changes that, from her perspective, salvadoran society has undergone.
Thus, Sarah B. Rogers’ statements highlight three strategic areas within the cooperation agenda between the United States and El Salvador: security, technological infrastructure, and cultural preservation. The official expressed her country’s commitment to continued collaboration in these fields and noted the progress she observes in salvadoran society.
