The Ministry of the Interior has requested a budget of US$280,913,509 for 2026 to strengthen its operations, improve emergency response, and continue modernizing public spaces and social development programs. The request was submitted to the Legislative Assembly as part of the analysis of the 2026 National Budget.
Of the total requested, US$20,822,638 would be allocated to staff salaries, while US$16,250,000 would be invested in strategic investment projects. To guarantee security and civil protection, US$3,084,500 would be specifically allocated to Protection Civil, and another US$7,961,117 to institutional operations, representing 3% of the total budget.
The Instituto Administrador de los Beneficios de los Veteranos y Excombatientes (INABVE) would receive US$185.6 million, reflecting the State’s commitment to the social welfare of this sector, while the Fire Department would receive US$20.3 million, earmarked for maintaining its operational capacity and strengthening emergency response.
Among other notable allocations, the Dirección de Integración tendría asignados would be assigned US$26.3 million, and the Consejo Nacional para la Inclusión de las Personas con Discapacidad (CONAIPD) US$346,537, reinforcing the focus on inclusion and social development.
Key investment programs include:
• Public Spaces Strengthening Program: US$15.85 million allocated to urban renewal and the promotion of social cohesion.
• Social Integration and Local Development Program in the Historic Center of San Salvador: US$9.37 million to revitalize the area and generate social and economic benefits.
• Infrastructure, Equipment, and Digital Innovation Improvement in priority tourist destinations: US$3.07 million to modernize tourist spaces and enhance the economic offerings linked to tourism.
In addition, the budget includes specific investments for emergencies and modernization: US$150,000 for equipment for the Sistema Nacional de Protección Civil, US$50,000 for a video surveillance system in ravines and tributaries at risk in the San Salvador Metropolitan Area (AMSS), and US$200,000 for modernizing the National Printing Office, including infrastructure, equipment, and technology.
The breakdown reflects a balance between institutional strengthening, emergency response, and social development, seeking to ensure efficient use of resources and promote a positive economic impact on the population and government services.
