During the Holy Week holidays, public sites in El Salvador saw a significant increase in visitor traffic, reaching a total of 1.8 million people, reflecting a notable surge in domestic tourism and families’ use of recreational spaces.
The increase in mobility and visits to tourist destinations demonstrate the population’s interest in enjoying outdoor activities, culture, and nature during this period. This trend is also linked to favorable conditions regarding security, infrastructure, and tourism offerings in the country.
Among the most popular destinations was the Historic Center of San Salvador, which received 686,000 visitors, establishing itself as one of the main attractions. Its renovated infrastructure, cultural activities, and culinary offerings position it as a benchmark for urban tourism.

Public beaches also saw high demand, with 527,000 visitors, driven by the weather and seasonal activities. These spaces continue to be a favorite choice for Salvadoran families.
Meanwhile, public tourist sites recorded 308,000 visitors, while cultural venues attracted 153,000 people, reflecting a growing interest in historical heritage and artistic activities.
Likewise, sites administered by El Salvador’s Ministry of Public Works reported 82,000 visitors, demonstrating the impact of the projects and spaces restored for public enjoyment.

As for protected natural areas, these received 23,000 visitors, highlighting the interest in eco-tourism and contact with nature, although on a smaller scale compared to other more accessible destinations.
Taken together, these figures show a diverse distribution of visitors across different types of spaces, from urban to natural, which helps boost the local economy, especially in sectors such as commerce, transportation, and services.
The season’s results reflect not only high public participation but also the consolidation of El Salvador as an attractive domestic destination, with a tourism offering that is increasingly varied and accessible to all.
