The U.S. Embassy in El Salvador reminds the Salvadoran population that there will be a temporary suspension of the visa appointment scheduling and change system, online payment system, visa call center and live chat from september 13 through september 22, 2024. This temporary suspension is due to the implementation of improvements that will be available in the new system.
The U.S. Embassy wishes to emphasize that appointments already scheduled (whether interview or document delivery) during these dates will not be affected by the temporary closure and we remind applicants to attend on the scheduled dates. In addition, applicants are reminded that cash payments for visa processing were suspended as of august 30 and all services will resume on september 23.
For applicants who have made their payment, either in cash or by credit or debit card prior to September 13, we ask that you schedule your appointments as soon as possible to avoid any interruptions or delays in your process.
All applicants must upload to
https://portal.ustraveldocs.com/country=El%20Salvador&language=Spanish Your completed application by september 13. This interruption will not affect the National Visa Center’s (NVC) scheduled residency visa cases.
In case of emergencies, such as death, urgent travel, enrollment in classes within 60 days, employment reasons including H2 visas, or unforeseen health circumstances, applicants may visit the Embassy’s website for more information and emergency contacts.
The Embassy’s Consul General, Michael Garcia, noted that these changes are necessary to improve the efficiency and accessibility of consular services, ensuring better service for salvadorans. For more information on how to proceed before the system closes and to receive updates on the process, applicants should follow official social media channels and the U.S. Embassy website.
